My List

Things I'm Glad I Did, But Don't Ever Want To Do Again

-Spring board diving
(I was on the diving team in high school. Now I'm a big old wimp.)

-Dancing on a bar
(I'd like to include in this one anything else dumb I did while drinking too much during college. It was fun, but it's just not as cool when you're 30.)

-Kissing a boy who name I didn't know
(I think the husband would disapprove a bit.)

-Wearing a uniform
( I don't think I've never mentioned it before but I went to college on a ROTC scholarship and then served 5 years in the Navy. I really glad I served, but I'm also really glad that I'm done. I love spending this time home with my son. And don't be too impressed I only sailed a desk.)

-Submerging on a submarine
(Just for a few hours.)

-Running while somebody is yelling loudly and timing me
(I learned I could do things I didn't know were possible. But it hurt...a lot.)

-Moving cross country
(I grew up in nothern CA and went to college in upstate NY. I didn't know a soul when I arrived.)

-Studying for finals week
(Never a pleasant experience for myself or anyone around me.)

-Taking classes at night after work
(This is not the fun way to go back to school.)

-Cliff Jumping
(Freshmen year, spring break, Jamaica.)

I'm glad I did these things. I learned a lot from them and they have helped me grow up.

But some of them were pretty dumb and some of them were really, really hard. I'm glad all of them are in my past.

What's on your list?

Hey, awesome that you were in the Navy! I'm a total military supporter!

And yes, I too will never dance on bar again...or anything else I did crazy while drunk back in college....I think that includes the "kissing a boy who's name I don't know"...lol!

i'm sure there are many, but the one big one that comes to mind is taking a job where I worked just across the Mexican border. While it looks good on a resume, they are in the stone ages corporation-wise and well, let's just say that women in the workplace aren't too welcome...and this was for a MAJOR American telecommunications company.

I did the "go back to school at night" thing but I was in my 40s with 2 boys in high school, a full-time job and a full-time very understanding husband. Never again!I don't even want to think about the things I did when I was younger.

Atta girl on the military service.

When I was young and single I moved on a whim. In the 12 years between college and marriage, I lived in 8 different places. I AM glad I did it, but I could never do it again.

K, this is a great list! This is what a lot of people should be thinking about, instead of the more common bucket list. Oops, did I just get on a soapbox?
My list? Hmmmmmmm.............I'm coming up short. For some reason, I can only think of things that I'm NOT glad that I did and never want to do again and things that I'm glad I did and WANT to do again.
But then to, I'm a bit out of sorts what with traveling and all, so maybe I'll get back to you!

I won't list the good stuff, as it was either illegal or immoral!

Living in NYC for two years. (acting dreams - then dreams of a family outweighed and we moved home to TX)
Lived as a long, long-hair red-head for many years when I was younger. (too much upkeep now - plus I want to own and show pride in the gray that has started to arrive. I earned every hair!)
My list of things still left to do is the much longer one...Peace...

You're so much more brave than I am. I'm a big old wuss and the only one on that list I've done is the bar dancing.

My list:

Share a hostel room with a stranger. Or spend the night anywhere that charges extra for a pillow.

Attend a party in anything that looks like underwear. (Ah, college)

Jello shots. The concept just seems gross now.

You just gave me an idea for a TMI post, and jello shots I have done them on a trip last summer and no regrets in my whole life...at least so far...

Hmm. How did I miss this good post? Thanks for serving our country. My hat is off to you (bowing low).

As for my list? Drinking until I threw up... Working full time for undergrad and grad school while going to school full time... getting drunk in Tijuana... dating the wrong guy and getting my heart and bank account wrecked...

I agree they made me who I am now, but I wouldn't go there again for all the money in the world.

Wow, what a cool list!

- Living alone...It's not awful but it is boring at times...
- live-in nanny. Did that twice and while I cherish the memories, I prefer living out now!

I really don't have anything embarrassing...yet.

Interesting list!
I went spelunking once. I probably wouldn't have done it that time if I'd known what I was getting into.

I've had two blind moves like that, and like you said, I'm glad I did it, but I don't want to do it again! Chances are though, I'm not through moving to foreign lands at the age of 26. Yes, NC is a foreign land.

It's funny, but when I look at the things I'm glad i did but wouldn't want to do again they are things that I hope that my kids NEVER do. I guess I can appreciate how they have shaped my life, but I'd like my boys to find safer activities to shape theirs.

What a neat list!

Erm, me? I've never done anything. At all. Ever. Honest.

PS--I've had to make WG invitation-only to keep out my stalker. If you give me your email, I will be more than happy to invite you, ok?

Besides the spring board diving and the Navy stint, I'd say I pretty much nailed your list! Just exchange cliff jumping for bungee jumping, but same island!

LOL! I think I freaked when I read that you submerged in the sub! I hate the idea of subs, it makes me feel claustrophobic, and on top of that, I'm afraid of drowning. ;-)

Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday!
