And we're off and running, just like the teenage boys in front of my house.
Last week when I wrote about shirtless teenage boys, I thinking about well defined, underage six packs.
Many of the comments were more along the lines of stinky and annoying teenagers. So...now I feel a little inappropriate.
It appears I might be a dirty old lady in training. (I added the "in training" because I refuse to call myself old just yet. I'm feeling a little sensitive about my up coming transition to the thirties.)
Maybe I shouldn't have watched Seventeen Again.
*****************
Over the weekend, I heard on a random TV show that over 50% of the people on Facebook are over 26 years old.
Am I the only one who finds that fact comforting?
****************
In the past three days I have bought and sent three birthday presents (nephew, friend and little brother), two wedding presents and three Mother's day cards.
I did, however, manage to forgot to send my grandma a birthday card, but recovered in time for a CYA phone call.
I'm glad for all these reasons to celebrate, but wish it was all spread out a little more.
It's overwhelming! (And expensive.)
*************
There seems to be a bit of burnout blowing through blogland. Several of my blog friends have been MIA and one even deleted their blog without notice.
The abrupt end of blog friendships is jarring.
In "real" life friendships fade much more gradually.
I miss you and I wish you well.
*************
Have a fantastic Tuesday folks. Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Yes, K....I think you might be a dirty young woman...when I think shirtless teenage boys, I think funk!
Yes, I am happy that half the people on FB are my age or older.
It is jarring, isn't it? Don't you go anywhere without saying good-bye.
I've noticed the bloggy burnout recently too... maybe people are going outside now that there's nice Spring weather? They'll be back?!?
You're not a dirty old woman, I had the same gross thoughts. Either that or we both are.
I'm in the same boat with gift buying. WTH dudes, calm down. This week is teacher appreciation week so I had to buy for all 4 of Graham's teachers (he's at 2 schools, remember?). The kicker is that one of his teachers left last week so I had to buy her a going away present and had to buy the new teacher something on her first damn day. What if I DON'T appreciate her? Phew, that was a lot of ranting. Thanks, I feel better now.
I have a weakness for six packs and those little hip things so I need to stay away from teenage boys, heck collageage boys too! I think I've crossed to dirty old lady! Just looking, admiring the art!
I forgot that those teenager boys were just in your neighborhood, and not YOUR teenager boy and friends. You can imagine what I was thinking when I read you were going to transition into your thirties..."She has teenagers when she's not even thirty? Whoa..."
I drool over younger 'boys' too but hey I don't care. My boyfriend calls us cougars...haha!
happy RTT
Seems like every town has those shirtless boys. It's when they get old and flabby when we need to send out the fashion police.
I think the determining factor may be whether one has raised one of those teenage boys or not. It changes how you see them forever.
Dirty Old Lady in Training? Hilarious!
No kidding! People are dropping like flies! Everyone seems to be burnt on blogging, it's weird. I'm in it for the long haul, so you can be friends with MEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!
I'll be joining you in that transition to the 30s later this year...and I will also admit that when I watch the High School Musical movies with my stepdaughter, it's not just for her benefit ifyouknowwhati'msayin'.
Zac Efron is dreamy.
Ah, we are in the same boat -- just separated by a decade :) The loss of my 30's is eating at me!
And can I just say that I will love you forever for comparing me to Ashley Judd?!
As for the gift giving, it really does get expensive! At least you'll have a big chunk of it out of the way and plenty of recovery time before the holidays :)
I feel better about the Facebook thing. I'm 26 and have one.
I've noticed that a lot of people have been leaving their blogs too. That saddens me. I plan on having a blog until I'm...well, dead I guess.
Yes, definitely some blog burnout! You already know my deal, but I have to admit.. I'm struggling. It takes so much more effort for me to commit to the reading now.
Dirty old lady in training made me laugh.
Happy Tues!
Happy Cinco de Mayo fo' shizzle!
Yeah, the shirtless teen boy thing takes on a new meaning when you're the mother of a ripped, teen boy. That's when my thoughts changed and moved to shirtless 27 year olds (my new cougar minimum age!)
i just love your random thoughts... they always make me smile! i must be one of those MIA bloggers... i have not had time to fit in my blog reading lately and it is killing me! i need to be back i the swing of it!
A comedian, I can't remember which one, said "I wish people who have trouble expressing themselves would just shut up!" Kinda mean, kinda funny too... I've seen people post every day, and I've seen people post twice a month..I think a lot of bloggers moved on to Facebook, and Twitter..When I started blogging, the majority were young people. They moved on, while older people discovered a mode of writing that suited them..
People will come and go on blogs, depending on what they like to read or write. When it stops being fun, take a break!
Happy Tuesday, Cinco de Mayo!
All the people I know on FB are of the, er, mature persuasion... and I am very glad for it....
I totally forgot it was Cinco de Mayo, but then again I have never needed a reason to drink a few beers and be festive.
you're not a dirty old lady in training... i've got a major thing for the actors who play emmett and jacob in the twilight movies. they're like barely legal... but i suppose we can be dirty old ladies in training together.
As one who is now firmly entrenched in my 30s, let me share a little secret with you. They are pretty awesome. Seriously. Best decade ever. :)
I agree with zenmom, the thirties are way better than the twenties.
Oh, and I'm feeling definitely like a dirty old lady.. loving the "Twilight" series and am lusting over both Edward and Jacob, LOL.
I just realized that the 20 something guy that flirts with me when he rings up my groceries was probably born the same year I graduated high school. Now that's something to feel old about.
I've also noticed a lack of activity from my fellow bloggers, although I don't think I've seen any disappear from the blogosphere entirely.
I wonder why I am always behind the times? Just when I get on a roll and start up the whole blogging thing, other people start to disappear. I'm just beginning to enjoy myself here!
When you posted that comment last time I did think, wow! Cute hunks to see everyday. But then I saw the rest of the comments and thought, better not post that comment!
I saw the dangerous lifes of alter boys and fell in deep lust with emile hirsch. it made me feel wrong and dirty but dang.
Things do feel a little stilted in the blogosphere as of late. Odd. Maybe it's the transition to spring and such.. Maybe it's us. Maybe it's me? Oh, no, do you think it's ME?
I saw a show last night with a guy in it that was my son's age, so I believe I cannot go there or someone else would with my son, kind of pay back...
I wane on the blog thing, but I do not like FB or Twitter, only use as an advertisement for my posts...
You seem to have a lot of followers?
Go ahead and look. Keep your thoughts to yourself and no one will ever know. Just saying.
I've noticed that gifts seem to clump up here and there throughout the year. I like the spread it out idea.
Have a terrific day. :)
LOL, on the "dirty old lady" and I see to some of my friends that don't post but once a week! It's fun to find lots of new friendS!
I was just talking to my husband about the bloggy burnout...glad it's not just me.
Maybe Twittering is taking up all their time...?
"In the past three days I have bought and sent three birthday presents (nephew, friend and little brother), two wedding presents and three Mother's day cards."
Now, that's a nice person! And good save on Grand-ma.
it is sad when blog buds just up and disappear. We'll probably think of them until our dying days.
LOL and HAHAHAHA
I saw 17 again and I have a VERY inappropriate crush on Zac Efron. VERY. I want to write an entire post about the movie just to talk about him. ha.
bloggy burnout? I'm just starting. figures.
Why do you think so many woman are into Twilight? Because of Edward -- the hot teenage vampire with a maturity of an older man. It's what we are looking for in life...
And I heard something similar about Facebook -- it does make me feel better...I thought it was for the youngsters. Wonder where they are hanging out now that us "oldies" are clogging up their social network.
And I hate when you have lots of b-days and stuff all together -- especially when they fall around holiday time!!!
And I hear you on the burnout ... it is must be contagious!
You're APPROACHING your thirties? Oh please trade places with me, please.
Congrats on being FB on SITS today!!! Love your blog layout. AWESOME background :)
Stopping by from SITS.Lol. You gave me a giggle.Ü
I hate when all of the birthdays/anniversaries/holidays lump together! You're right about it being expensive. ;)
P.S. Congrats on being FB!!
P.P.S. Your blog layout is FANTASTIC! I am beyond jealous.
I know you haven't posted about today being your Features Day, but I wanted to say Congrats to you! I'm sure it will be a whilrwind of excitement!
I'm weaning myself off of that Cougar-making Zac Effron, myself.
You're the FB! How cool!
congrats on being the SITS FB!!! i agree about the abruptly ending blog friendships - too true!
Congrats on your SITS xx
I'm afraid I would have been in the stinking annoying boy category because I'm pretty much over the shirtless well defined underage six pack thing. But then I'm in my 50s so I must be REALLY old to you LOL!
Sometimes I look at my Hubs and still see a stinking annoying boy to be honest.
Thanks for the reminder that I need to get a card for my MIL!
Congrats on your SITS FB Day.
Congrats on being the SITSter of the day!!
Stopping by from SITS to say hi!
What a fun blog! (following)
Congrats on your SITS day!
I've noticed some blogs seem to be disappearing too. Where are they going? This is just too fun to stop.
Have a great one!
What a cute layout you have to your blog (the notebook is so cute!)
Happy SITS day!
Stopping by from SITS to say HI!
yep, considering I am a Twilight junkie and dig other under 21 "boys" I am a dirty old lady in training too LOL! Happy SITS day!
Hi visiting from SITS. I haven't really noticed the blogger burnout thing, but it's could be nicer temps and then I heard a stat that said most blogs don't make it past 6 months. Not enough readership to keep them motivated and they run out of things to say. So far the later hasn't happened. I hope it never does. I can't imagine not having my blog. Have a great day:)
Don't worry about the number - 30 is really young. Wait until you hit 50- and even then it's just "half-time"! I really enjoyed your blog.
ahh did you say dirty old lady. Well I dont consider myself old at 42 but whatever, dirty I probably am..
your a riot., and contrats to the feature on sits..!!
I am now a follower of you.
Cheers.
Brittany
I am hosting a crafty giveaway on my blog, if your interested-come on over and follow!!

ha! i totally want to see 17 again (zac efron is adorable) but for some reason, it is not appealing to my nine year old son or any of the younger children in my house! too funny! and facebook is my true addiction, blogging is second and i am...gasp...33...for one more week. (my mom has a facebook page though!)
I have found bloggers MIA lately too (and I miss BV)
I really like these random posts. I have seen them around a lot recently and like the idea of just spouting off.
Visiting from SITS.
Must say, i have bloggy burn-out after blogging every day for over a year, i am taking a week to just enjoy the Tuesday Blog Party. Check it out if you get a chance. It's for a fantastic cause!
Enjoy your day!
I agree a blog being deleted without warning is very jarring. I will be leaving my thirties next year. Not sure how I feel about that yet? Well I know I don't feel that old yet but hmmmm.
LOL!!! I laughed so hard about the shirtless teenage boys part!
Saw you on SITS! Congrats...
I, too, have seen quite a bit of bloggy burnout lately. How sad. Aren't our blogs supposed to be not only ABOUT us, but FOR us? A way for us to connect and find people we are similar to.
When people feel so much pressure that they must.keep.blogging...it becomes no fun. Hmmm...
Enjoy all of the comments! Hope you get lots of new readers!
Awesome blog, you dirty ol' lady in training you! lol
SITS rawks ;)
I just found you from SITS. Great blog! I think I'm a dirty old lady in training too. I work on a college campus, and I'm constantly thinking I would totally date some guy I see, and then I realize I was probably his teacher when he was in 5th grade!
I find the fact that most people in Facebook are older very comforting. The same is true of Twitter. People who grew up with computers are aging, making the adopter age older.
Great post! :)
