This makes me feel really old - Jim Carrey to be a Grandfather
I bet he will be awesome in this new role.

I don't have all the answers yet, but I think I am finally asking the right questions.
It's enough for right now.

I went to the doctor's yesterday. I heard the baby's heartbeat again. It's amazing how reassuring that is.
I've even put on a little weight. I think the worst of the puking is over.
It's shocking how much brighter the world looks.

I thought this was kind of interesting - What? You Don't Love Your Mother In Law?
According to the article the biggest mistakes DILs make are being thin-skinned, taking a confrontational stand too quickly, expecting equal treatment, letting things slide at the start, and failing to put yourself in her shoes.
It all seems a bit contradictory to me.
How are you supposed to not be too confrontational and not let the little things slide at the start?
I'm thankful that my mother in law is a very nice woman, even if we are very different from each other.

Thankfully my Step-MIL is a very awesome lady. She and I have the most interesting convos over a glass of wine.
No way, Jim Carrey? Yikes.

Glad you're starting to feel better!
Hooray for the end of morning sickness. I aodre being pregnant. Except for THAT.
Glad to hear that the pregnancy is proceeding healthily.
Jim Carey a granddad? Jeez, I'm 23 and I feel old lol. And my mother in law was a force to be reckoned with; I was told to get pregnant because apparently we can't have control over our own wombs anymore?!
Glad the puking has stopped :-)
I don't have a MIL but I have HUGE FIL issues. The dude is a jerk though, sexist, racist, assfaceish, you name it.
Happy Tuesday, glad you're over the puking and are able to enjoy the pregnancy.
Aw c'mon, Jim Carrey a grandfather???
I had to go read that article because I didn't know j.c. even had a daughter that old. It's weird how we get older but don't expect celebrities to.
I get along great with my Mother and Father-in-law.... They're both dead....
I don't have another appointment until July 30, so right now I'm laying very still at night, trying to detect movement. It's still a little early, but I've heard that with subsequent pregnancies women usually feel movement sooner...talk about reassuring!
My oldest granddaughter just turned 18. I still don't feel old.
Yay on the baby. It is very magical indeed.
Having a great MIL is a blessing. Just saying.
Have a terrific day honey. :)
I love RTT, and I totally forgot to do one!
You are about #2, asking the right Q's is a great start!
Hello to baby!!
Glad to hear that you are feeling better. :)
Oh, the end of vomiting is a wonderful time. Just wait til the 3rd tri when you're miserable likee Super Jenn (sorry Super Jenn if you read this, I mean it in the most loving way)
My MIL and I have bumped heads before, but we're great now. I think the distance helps though..
Jim Carrey? I can see it. He'll be popular with the faces since I remember my grandfather had a very rubbery face when it came to kidding around. :-)
My MIL and I get on quite well, my SIL and I are another story. :-)
Oooo don't miss throwing up, you poor thing, glad the worst of it is over.

Ha! I read that article as well and was left thinking....hmmmmmm. Mine is you know, whatever. But she lives a good 350 miles away and it's a "few times a year kind of thing" so I can deal with it. The article was just a bunch of fluff.
I loved hearing the heartbeats when I was pregnant. Warm Fuzzies all around!
that little heartbeat surely made your day!! so exciting! that, and the puking being over :)
it has been a rcky couple fo years, but i think my mil & i finally are falling into a decent routine of living a mile apart...
Ahhhh, MIL drama. I've gone from having a wonderful relationship to an awful relationship to no relationship to a decent relationship with my MIL in the eight years that I've been with my hubby. I can't wait to read the article!
I'm old too. WOW! Jim Carrey a grandfather. I didn't even know he had kids.
Thank you for visiting my blog and appreciating it, K :)
I am following yours now.
Take care and be blessed.
It doesn't matter what experts say on the MIL issue. That relationship will be a trial from here to eternity.
I had a miscarriage between #1 and #2 and yes, that heartbeat is WONDERFUL to hear! Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well.
The Jim Carrey thing is totally weird to me.
Thanks for the warm welcome to SITS! :)
Funny, and random! I like.
And your previous post is a wonderful counter-post to my last whiny, complainy post. Good perspective.
your blog is beautiful!
thank you for visiting and commenting on mine :-)
So glad the puking is about over.
I'm pretty lucky. My MIL is great. I get along with her better than my own mother.
If more people were like teflon and just let things slide off we would be more forgiving with each other. Glad to hear your pregnancy is going better!
I'm sure Jim Carrey is going to be a hilarious grandfather.
I'm glad I get along with my MIL. She also makes some awesome junk food for me.
my first mil was quite nice.
but i'm pretty sure she thinks i'm a skank now because i divorced her son.
and i strongly dislike the personality of my boyfriends mother (did you like how i didn't say despise?) so i guess i was only lucky the first time around!
andy
I felt reassured too whenever I heard Lucas' heartbeat when he was in my tummy too! :D Congrats on your new baby! :D
"How are you supposed to not be too confrontational and not let the little things slide at the start?"--I so totally agree, my MIL and I had our moments at the start of my marriage, but we got passed it after 6 years. :D
Happy RTT! :)
wait...jim carey as a grandfather? i can't picture that guy as a FATHER!
Jim Carey is going to be a grandfather? Whoa... :)
Glad you're feeling better and can now enjoy your pregnancy... :)
I don't have a MIL, and from what I understand she wasn't a very nice person so it's probably a good thing she crossed over early in her life. My FIL is tolerable - he hasn't really accepted me as a daughter-in-law (though my hubby and I have been together 12 years, married for 6), just the wife of his son and the mother of his grandchild. He's old enough to be my grandfather, though, so I let it slide. :)
Happy RTT! :)
I haven't learned all that much over my lifetime, but I have learned this: whether it's an MIL, just an M, or anyone else, the only route to happiness is to lay the smack down on anyone who tries to dictate to you in your own territory. Be your own person and do what you and your husband agree is right. If she doesn't like it, then remind her that it's a good thing that it's not her life.
I've also learned that puking for any reason REALLY sucks. For me, and anyone else withing 50ft or so. Apparently, I'm anatomically incapable of puking quietly. Long story, no punchline, just take my word for it. So, congrats on not puking. ;p
Glad you're feeling better and that the little guy/gal is thumping away in there!
I have no idea how can avoid letting the little things slide and not be confrontational. I'm guessing who ever wrote this didn't know either. My Mother in law is very nice, but at the start she seemed very different. Over time I realize how similar we really are. My good friend says that the main difference between your Mom and your MIL and that you can't just tell your MIL that she's being a pain in the ***. I think that sums it up pretty well for most women I know.
so glad the morning sickness is over, and things are good! I read the Jim Carrey thing the other day and laughed. Can you imagine telling people your grandfather is the Grinch that stole Christmas?
Your profile pic lead me here from SITS roll call. It's adorable. LOL And I am surprised you think it's shocking the world looks brighter OUTSIDE of the toilet bowl. Just sayin'.... ;) Jim Carrey, grandpa, really? We are old. Thanks for that. Happy Hump Day.
Wha'? Jim Carrey? Really? No way. That just threw my whole day off.
Good to hear you're getting past the pukeys. Now on to the good stuff - gaining weight!
Glad you're feeling better and that the baby is doing well. After hearing that about Jim Carrey, I'm feeling super old right now!
Grandpa Jim Carrey? Woa.
As for MILs-I don't like mine, she doesn't like me, but we fake it once or twice a year and we're both comfortable with that arrangement.
Congrats on getting over the morning sickness =)
