Baby Steps

I ran my first errand with both kiddos today.

We went to Target to return something and bought a few essentials.

This might not sound impressive, but it feels like a major milestone to me.

There were no nuclear meltdowns, no major drama and all limbs are still attached.

The baby might have gotten poked a few times by her big brother, but she didn't seem to mind so I'm declaring victory.

This is my first week on my own, outnumbered by children. It hasn't been easy, but it's been a heck of a lot better than I feared.

Audrey is four weeks old now. Thankfully, she is a relatively laid back baby. She's an alert, content little lady and is quickly growing some impressive thigh rolls.

I think she is pretty prefect.

And as a bonus, the last two nights she went over four hours between feedings. Again, this probably doesn't sound impressive, but after nursing every two to three hours around the clock for the last four weeks it was a major step.

The zombie fog that has settled in my brain is starting to clear a little. (And I'm wearing pants with a zipper! Sorry - just needed to share that.)

The little man continues to be an awesome big brother. He continues to love the baby and really hasn't gotten jealous. He's a bit overly helpful at times, but that was pretty much his style long before he became a big brother.

I think it would be too bold to say I've got my groove back, but at least I can hear the music again.

Hopefully, I'll feel up to joining the dance again in a few weeks.

I so remember all of this, then the grandkids came and it started all over again. Well everything except the pants with zippers part. Looks like things are coming along wonderfully. Excellent.

Have a terrific day. :)

Congrats on the zippered pants and not having a meltdown at the store! You can do it!

I so know what you mean with it being a huge milestone to take both kids to target by yourself! It was for me too! Now when my baby is 4 months it's a part of the daily routine and not a big deal any more... But I was always so scared taking both kids in the beginning so I always left one at home with my hubby. lol

Nice blog!

Pants with a zipper? Whoa. That IS impressive. I don't think I got into zipper pants until I was a solid two months PP.

I'm glad you got out and about.

Keep your pants zippered for a bit, before child number three!

yay! I remember those first outings. They really were monumental. You sound like you are rockin' it. Good for you. :)

ps. I'm wearing zippered pants today too! But only until after I run errands.

I remember being scared bringing the kids out for the first time, but it's better than never leaving the house. Zipper pants, that's impressive. The weight seems to fly off when you're nursing one and chasing after the other.

Thigh rolls, gosh I miss those days. Now we're dealing with voice changing and other puberty issues.

Still can't believe you're finding time for regular blogging, that's very impressive

thanks for stopping by and welcoming me to SITS. Big baby steps indeed: I clearly remember the very 1st day I took my 20 months and newborn out shopping, and being almost overwhelmed with 2 car seats, bags of groceries, and the fear of sudden screaming fits or poop emergencies. congrats on your new family & big 3-0

It sounds like things are starting to fall in place. I am glad that it is better than you feared and not the other way around!

It is always helpful when the older child is well behaved.

It is a big deal all these milestones after giving birth love and even so when you have other children at home :) I remember those days. Venturing out were little steps.

Oh and I Love thigh rolls!

Glad the fog is clearing:) Celebrate you!

K, that is really awesome and impressive. I remember the first time that I took all my kids out by myself. It was liberating!

Good for you!

All that is major milestones!!!! I remember the first outings with my infant, horror! She cried so hard in Target I thought the entire world was staring me down and she cried the entire 10 minute drive home so I thought my skin was going to melt off. I eventually got used to this but the first freak out is always the worst!

That IS a huge feat, I was terrified to leave the house with both kids for the first time. Hell, I still am but it gets easier.

Yay for the zipper. Again, huge.

Going to the store with two kids is exponentially more difficult that going with just one. *Especially* when one of them is a under 1 year old! Congratulations on your baby steps!!!

I don't run errands alone with multiple kids unless it's an EMERGENCY. It's just against my policy-you are brave =)

Also to be wearing zippered pants is quite an accomplishment. My kids are nearly 6, nearly 2, and 8 months and I only wear zippered pants if I am going some place important.

It sounds like you're doing great Mama!
