Did you see this article? - Insurance study: Women are better drivers than men
I have to say this headline made me happy. I've heard many a cheap shots taken at "bad women drivers". I know plenty of crappy drivers and they certainly aren't all female. SO TAKE THAT!!!! (Is it a bad sign I'm feeling defensive about this issue?)
I suspect that we ladies are more likely to drive around with a car full of children and I've often wondered if that isn't the cause of our bad driving reputation. My worst driving moments are usually inspired by loud screaming coming from the back seat.
With real little ones you also get to worry about choking, siblings physically harming each other and projectiles flying at you from behind. And that stage when kids first learn to undo their seat belts, that was a pretty special time of unsafe driving around these parts.
Children have certainly added an element of surprise to the driving experience. I admit I've had some bad driver moments, especially since becoming a mother. That said, I don't have crappy driving moments because I have ovaries, I have them because I'm human.
Really, I think it's amazing that the study showed women are safer drivers. Obviously not every woman drives around herds of children, but I honestly would have mommy car pools of the world would have tipped it to favor the guys. I guess moms have even more super powers than I thought.

I've found that there are good and bad on both sides. As far as driving men tend to go way too fast and take chances that we wouldn't. Probably the biggest difference.
Have a terrific day. :)
I knew this a long, long time ago. Women are a lot more careful than men, it makes them safer drivers. Women are less willing to take risks than men are. Overall though I think it's the same as education, we're pretty equal but different in certain aspects.
I'm not a mom, but I totally agree!!
I very much like this tidbit of info! I do think women tailgate more, but men are more reckless.
I work in community health and I had to regularly drive an older man around. He would rag on women drivers all the time. The ironic thing is he had his licence taken away years and years ago (not because of age) but he would never tell me why. He made me so mad!! I really did not like him very much! :-P
Ha! I need to show this to my husband! Though he will say I'm the exception that proves the rule or something along those lines.
It is an indisputable fact in our house that I am the better driver. I take less chances hence I get in less accidents.
And we have the groovy soccor mom arm stretch when stopping short. :-)
Love it! Although, sadly I fall into the crappy driving simply because I have ovaries. True story.
I have to say I have more rode rage than my hubby but I'm also in the car driving more than him! Better drive...not me I can barely parallel park!
Just in case you missed it, I wanted to give you the link to the post where I gave you an award.
Have a great day.
